Munkholmen (Norwegian, meaning the monk's islet) is an islet north of Trondheim, Norway in the Trondheimsfjord. The islet has served as a place of execution, a monastery, a fortress, prison, and a World War II anti-aircraft gun station. Today, Munkholmen is a popular tourist attraction and recreation site. This photo was shot from the cruise ship Aurora.

Equilibrio North is made of silver granite from Støren in Norway. Height : 6 m Weight : 9 tons

At five locations in Europe, the artist Rolf Schaffner erected his steles of natural stone-blocks (rocks): With the one near Cologne (1997) being in the centre, they are located in: Trondheim/Norway (2000) in the North, in Santanyi/Spain(1995) in the South, Cork/Ireland (2007) in the West and Volgograde/Russia(2005) in the East. By linking these locations with imaginary lines, the sign of the cross is being formed which leads to another powerful system and its balance. The sculptor named them “Meridians of Peace” Equilibrio means balance.

The Norwegian football season started this weekend, and Rosenborg, the pride of Trondheim, opened at home against FC Lyn Oslo, and won 2-1. Rosenborg's Ivorian striker Yssouf Koné has the ability to do the most spectacular things on the pitch, but this time the ball went wide of the goal.
